*The storming of the US Capitol on January 6th by white nationalists and Trump supporters was part of a failed coup. Some call it a failed insurrection, others, a riot. What is 
important is its aims and impacts. It was no surprise to those paying attention to developments during the Trump administration. While these Neo-fascist organizations are not new, they have been strengthening since the Obama Administration and have taken a tremendous leap with the cover and encouragement of Trump.
*The attempt to overturn the election is not just a conflict between white elites or the Democrats and Republicans. It was a direct threat to the Black community as the terrorists represent the white supremacist who have declared Black people, other people of color, the LGBTQ community and the Jewish community as their enemies. Part of the motivation was to overturn the impact of the Black mobilization and vote that projects the Black masses as a leading and decisive force in the electoral arena.The signs and symbols were clear with confederate flags leading the way. The ranks included law enforcement officers and some military. This movement as it manifests itself in the states is a clear and present danger to our communities including or movements and institutions.
*Trump has had supporters among corporations and elected officials on the national, state and local level. There is a split in the national ruling class, however, so he was not able to pull them into open and public support resulting in the failure. Trump is such an odious, inept and selfish individual that, except for the “cult of personality” offering him a mass base of support, his leadership is not as strong or effective as it otherwise might have been. So even when Trump leaves office, this mass fascist movement will still exist and be active to some degree — waiting for more effective leadership.
*There is likely support for Trump within the military although they did not join in the failed coup and clearly, he has support among law enforcement at both the rank and file and command levels. This is and will continue to be a challenge and threat to our resistance movements.
*This neo-fascist trend will continue for years but we must struggle with neo-liberals and the Biden/Harris Administration as they try to appease the Republicans with 
middle of the road reforms at our expense with no Medicare for All, $15 minimum wage or Reparations for Slavery.
*The struggle in the states will intensify with the assaults on state capitols and armed marches taking place. Black organizations and other social movements that have waged anti-racist struggles, particularly over police murders will be at risk. The fascists, with those resisting Pandemic measures, will be in full effect as legislatures convene and 2021/2022 local elections get underway. We cannot ignore this threat
*Given that the coup attempt was carried out across the country we call on our communities to be vigilant in the neighborhoods, at work, in their churches, etc. to guard against possible attacks. We need rigorous self-defense and situational awareness training.
*This is a time for extreme unity. We have to set aside small differences and commit to working together and not in silos. In the immediate period, we must work as a broader coalition of organizations to hold Workers’ and Peoples’ Assemblies, Speak Outs and action planning sessions for us to communicate better and take joint action and get updates on legislative action and information about the activities of the white nationalist. We must do a better job avoiding petty political and personal differences, and connect with each other, even if we only agree with only 65% or 75 % of each other’s political vision and action program.
*Trump must pay the consequences. Everyone should join the call to Impeach Trump even if there is not enough time for the trial to take place before his term expires. His racist and fascist legacy must be stamped with this result. For us, outside of the constitutional process we think people should call for criminal prosecution and a jail sentence.
